Information we collect

Contact form

If you send a message we collect your name, email address and message. We also store a one-way hash of your IP address and a short copy of your browser user agent. We do this to handle your enquiry and to reduce abuse. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile as a security check.

Server logs

Our hosting provider may keep ordinary web server logs, which can include IP address, requested URL, date and time, and browser type, for a limited period. Those logs are used to operate, secure and diagnose the site.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies as described in our cookie policy. Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-0H19N1F06T) runs only after you accept analytics in Cookie Options.

Maps and staff tools

Public beach maps use self-hosted Leaflet and OpenStreetMap tiles. They do not ask the public for personal details. Staff-only preview and admin tools are not part of the public site and are not offered to visitors.

Why we use the information and the lawful bases

We process personal information under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The site also serves visitors in the EU and Spain. We describe the same processing for those visitors here; this page is still not legal advice.

  • Contact messages: legitimate interests in answering you and running the site, and sometimes steps at your request before a contract (for example a sponsorship question). You choose to send the message.
  • Security and logs: legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and working.
  • Analytics cookies: consent. We do not run analytics until you accept that category in Cookie Options.

Who processes the information for us

We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of processors:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores the site and contact messages.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a contact form was submitted by a person.
  • Cookie Options (cookieoptions.com), which stores your cookie preference.
  • Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics.

We do not currently run Google AdSense or similar advertising networks on this site. We do not currently operate a public newsletter. A sponsors page may list third-party businesses; those businesses have their own privacy information if you follow a link.

How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to handle the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for records and abuse prevention. Hosting logs are kept for a limited operational period. Analytics data follows Google’s retention for the property once you have consented. Cookie Options remembers your choice until you change it or clear it in your browser.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to move information you gave us in a portable form where that right applies. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time through Cookie Options without affecting earlier lawful use.

To use these rights, please use the contact form. We may need to check who you are before we act on a request.

Children

This is a family-friendly travel guide. It is not a service aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Please do not use the contact form to send a child’s personal details.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom. Visitors in the EU or Spain may also be able to contact their local supervisory authority.

Changes

We may update this statement when the site or the law changes. The current version will always be the one on this page. Last updated 27 September 2026.
