Es Racó de S’Alga

Es Racó de S'Alga is the largest of the three Guía de Playas beaches on Illa d'Espalmador, the uninhabited island just north of Formentera's Trucadors tip. It is listed at about 1,000 by 20 metres of sand with dunes. Espalmador lies inside the Ses Salines Natural Park and has almost no buildings.

Access is by boat only (private craft or organised trips). Crossing the shallow channel from Formentera on foot is forbidden because of currents. Park rules also ban mud bathing in Espalmador's interior lagoon, which is kept for birdlife and public-health reasons. The tourist manual is blunt on both points.

Naturism is long associated with Espalmador's open beaches, and the Guía de Playas marks nudism here. There are no shops, toilets or lifeguards. Carry all water and shade, land only where allowed, and stay on the shore and signed paths. Pinkish tones in the sand that visitors sometimes mention come from natural shell and sediment mix, not from any resort landscaping.

Check current park notices before you go; rules exist to keep this island empty on purpose.
