Nudist Beaches in Minorca

Minorca

One of Spain’s Balearic Islands, Minorca (Menorca), although smaller than some of its sister islands, has more beaches than Ibiza and Majorca combined. Its capital city Maó, also known as Mahón has one of the largest natural deep water harbours in the world, second only to Pearl Harbour. The city was once fortified and throughout history it has been a strategic stronghold for many nations. Although a relatively small city, Maó gets very busy during the summer months with visitors enjoying the many sidewalk cafes, bars and superb restaurants, all with picturesque views over the impressive harbour. Just a short drive from the city are some fantastic beaches, many of which are quiet and secluded. The former capital of the island, Ciutadella de Menorca is situated on the far west coast and was an important trading center during the Middle Ages. The town also has a lovely port area with a selection of  waterside cafes, bars and restaurants. There is a quaint Old Quarter and a selection of historic buildings and monuments to visit.

Minorca has some beautiful countryside with pine forests reaching all the way to the sea, hiding some stunning coves and bays. Cala Galdana, situated near the town of Es Migjorn Gran is the most photographed bay in Europe. Es Migjorn Gran is all about relaxing, enjoying the fresh air and maybe exploring the impressive Bingaus ravine which is home to the Cova des Coloms ( Cave of the Doves ) and the smaller secluded Cova Polida. Situated in the centre of Minorca is the market town of Es Mercadal which was originally the centre of commerce for the island. It is home to Mount Toro, the highest mountain on the Minorca. On the summit stands a statue of Christ and a Gothic church from 1670 named the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Toro. The town offers a selection of shops, bars and restaurants, and within a few kilometres there are several beaches and coves. With the island being a relatively quiet holiday destination compared to its big sister Ibiza, and having an abundance of unspoilt beaches, it is a firm favourite with naturists and there is a good selection of official nudist beaches in Minorca.
