L'Ametlla de Mar is a fishing town on the Baix Ebre coast, between the last Costa Daurada sands and the Ebro Delta. Official and local tourism still present it as a working harbour: a fleet, a fish market, and a rocky shore of small coves rather than one long resort beach. The N-340, the AP-7 and the regional railway serve the town; Reus and Barcelona are the onward airports. The old streets drop to the port. Visitors come for seafood, diving and the calas toward L'Ampolla and El Perelló, and for a quieter night than Salou. The hinterland is pine and dry farmland, not rice delta, which begins a little further south.
In summer the harbour beach is the family front; the coves need a walk or a short drive and a pair of shoes. There is 1 nudist beach in L'Ametlla de Mar, Torrent del Pi, a pine-backed cove where visitors can spend lazy days in the sun a little away from the harbour sand. Expect mixed use and limited services, and take your rubbish with you. Pair the swim with a plate of the day's catch in the port if you want the classic Ametlla evening.
