Nudist Beach in Orihuela
Named the first city of the province of Alicante in 1437, Orihuela is steeped in history. Situated on the Costa Blanca and slightly inland between the towns of Elche and Murcia, Orihuela lies at the foot of the Sierra de Orihuela mountains. Flowing through the city is the picturesque Segura river, perfect for an evening stroll. With a large cultural heritage, Orihuela was once the capital of the Christian Kingdom and is well worth a visit from an historical point of view. Within the city are 5 National Monuments and the Palace and Cathedral of Rubaclava, once family owned the Cathedral is now the property of the city.
Visitors to Orihuela, travelling by air, have a choice of 2 airports. San Javier airport is located in the nearby town of Murcia and is the smaller of the 2 with less airlines and routes available. The larger international airport of Alicante has a lot more air traffic and services many budget airlines from all over Europe and the United Kingdom. For visitors travelling by road, the nearby and well constructed AP7 motorway links travellers to many large cities such as Alicante, Benidorm and even stretches all the way to Madrid.
Less than a 30 minute drive from Orihuela will take you to many of the Costa Blanca’s most popular holiday resorts including Campoamor, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and the large town of Torrevieja. The famous La Zenia Boulevard is the largest of it’s kind in the Province of Alicante and has been beautifully built with no expense spared. The Boulevard offers ample parking, over 150 shops, boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants, the huge Al Campo supermarket and even a casino. All of these holiday resorts have an abundance of shops, bars, restaurants and of course beaches, many of which have Blue Flag status. There is 1 official nudist beach in Orihuela, located on the outskirts of the holiday resort of Playa Flamenca.
