Ares Area

Ares is a small ría town on the Ferrolterra shore, between Pontedeume and the mouth of the ría of Ares. Official Galician tourism places it on the inner Gulf of Ártabro, a sheltered inlet of fishing quays, summer houses and a short walk of urban sand. The town faces Mugardos across the water, with Ferrol a little further into the ría. Visitors arrive by the AC-114 from Pontedeume or the coast road from Ferrol; there is no railway in the centre. Children and adults alike will enjoy the harbour paseo and the family sands closer to the village.

The outer rocks toward Redes are a different outline from the town beach. There is 1 nudist beach in Ares, As Mirandas, an isolated sand-and-gravel cove on the cliffier edge. It is a public cala for lazy days in the sun, reached on foot from the CP-0402. Bring water, expect fewer services than the harbour front, and enjoy one of Ferrolterra's quieter corners without treating the whole Ares shore as a single naturist strip.
