Deba Area

Deba is a small Gipuzkoa town on the estuary of the same name, in the western part of the province and inside the Basque Coast UNESCO Global Geopark. Official geopark pages name Deba, with Mutriku and Zumaia, as a founding municipality of the territory declared a UNESCO Global Geopark in November 2015. Official Euskadi describes Santiago, the town beach beside the river mouth, as about 400 metres of golden sand with promenades, surf and family services. That town beach is not a child on this site. Visitors arrive on the N-634, the A-8 or the Euskotren station in the town. The tourist office is listed by the geopark at Ifar kalea.

There are 4 nudist beaches in Deba, all flysch coves on the protected Deba-Zumaia coastal stretch rather than a marked town enclosure. This site lists Aitzuri, Itxaspe, Mendata and Sakoneta. Guía de Playas records them as isolated pebble and rock shores of partial nudism, inside the protected biotopo of the Deba-Zumaia littoral, with difficult access on foot from the N-634 or the Flysch Route and few or no services. Official geopark copy invites visitors to walk or boat the cliffs; it does not present these coves as a fenced naturist resort. Wear proper shoes, respect rockfall and tide, and keep to signed paths. Santiago remains the family and surf front of the town.
