Agaete sits on the north-west corner of Gran Canaria, where the Valle de Agaete meets the Atlantic at Puerto de las Nieves. Official island tourism treats the valley as one of the greenest pockets on an otherwise dry shore, with bananas, coffee terraces and the Maipés funerary field of volcanic stones. The town is the usual start for the Tamadaba Natural Park pines, part of the same highland massif that UNESCO grouped with Risco Caído and the Sacred Mountains. Visitors arriving by air use Gran Canaria Airport and the GC-2, then the winding GC-200 along the cliff. The port still has a working fishing fleet, and the fast ferry from Puerto de las Nieves toward Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the usual sea link when it is running; check the operator before you travel. Children and adults alike will enjoy the harbour walk, the valley lookouts and a calmer day than the southern resorts.
The Guía de Playas lists nudism as practised on 4 nudist beaches in Agaete, all isolated and most of them inside or beside Tamadaba. Faneroque, Guayedra and Sotavento are dark-sand and boulder strands that the inventory flags as difficult on foot from the GC-200. Punta Gorda is a shorter rocky corner with easier foot access. These are not the town bathing platforms of Puerto de las Nieves. Wear shoes, take water, and treat the cliff paths as a walk rather than a resort promenade. The main harbour rocks remain the everyday family swim.
