Gáldar was the seat of the pre-Hispanic guanarteme of north-west Gran Canaria, and official tourism still sends visitors to the Cueva Pintada Museum and Archaeological Park, a painted cave and settlement of more than fifty houses. The modern town sits above a working agricultural plain of bananas and vegetables, with the GC-2 as the main road from Las Palmas. The coast here is volcanic and broken: short caletas, rock shelves and a few boulder beaches rather than a continuous golden strand. Official Gran Canaria copy still pairs Gáldar with Agaete as the north-west cultural circuit.
There are 6 nudist beaches in Gáldar, all listed by the Guía as isolated and practised for nudism. Arrastradero, Lagarto and Paso del Salgo are the longer boulder or rock corners; Caletón de los Cangrejos, La Guancha and La Redonda are smaller rock pockets. None is a marked municipal enclosure on the town promenade. Expect easy foot access in the inventory notes, few services, and a very different mood from Maspalomas.
