Arucas is a substantial north Gran Canaria town a short drive from Las Palmas, known for its neo-Gothic parish church of San Juan Bautista and a historic centre that official tourism lists among the island's artistic ensembles. Banana groves and the old rum works still shape the lower streets. The GC-2 motorway makes it an easy half-day from the capital or the airport. The municipal coast is a darker, rockier strip than the southern dunes: more local fishermen than hotel towers, more natural pools than sunbeds.
There are 2 nudist beaches in Arucas. The Guía de Playas lists nudism as practised at La Fuente, a boulder and rock stretch of about 170 metres, and Las Salinas, a rock platform of about 210 metres. Both are isolated in the inventory sense, with easy foot access rather than a resort promenade. They sit apart from the everyday town sands. Take reef shoes if you have them, and keep the church square and municipal gardens as the family stroll.
