Pájara is the southern municipality of Fuerteventura, covering the Jandía peninsula from Costa Calma and Morro Jable to the empty barlovento shore. Official PROMOTUR copy calls Cofete one of the wildest beaches in the Canaries: about twelve kilometres of golden sand, few houses, a dirt road that rewards a careful driver or a 4x4, and an Atlantic that should be treated with respect. Sotavento, on the leeward side, is the long lagoon shore used for windsurf championships. Inland, the white village of Pájara keeps a carved church doorway that visitors stop for on the way to Betancuria. Fuerteventura Airport and the FV-2 are the usual approach.
There are 7 nudist beaches in Pájara. The Guía lists nudism as practised on all seven; official tourism describes Cofete as wild and undeveloped rather than as a marked nudist enclosure. El Cofete is the great isolated park beach, recorded at about 13.7 kilometres. Sotavento is a long semi-urban sand in a site of scientific interest. Butihondo is another long semi-urban sand toward the Costa Calma side. El Viejo Rey, Las Coloradas, Morro de Potala and Ugan are shorter isolated corners. Stay on the track, mind the wind, and keep Morro Jable's town beach as the everyday family swim.
