Yaiza Area

Yaiza is the southern municipality of Lanzarote, from the white village under Timanfaya to Playa Blanca, Puerto Calero, El Golfo and the wine hollows of La Geria. Official Yaiza tourism lists 13 localities and calls the municipal beaches among the best valued in the Canaries. The Papagayo and Ajaches coves, a natural monument of pale sand and cliffs, lie beyond Playa Blanca on a controlled track. El Golfo is the half-crater lagoon; Janubio's salt pans sit on this shore, not in Puerto del Rosario. Visitors fly into Lanzarote Airport and take the LZ-2. Children and adults alike will enjoy Playa Blanca's promenade, a camel or bus visit to Timanfaya, and a glass of Geria wine.

There are 24 nudist beaches in Yaiza, the second-largest municipal list on this site. The Guía lists nudism as practised on all of them; official tourism describes Papagayo as a protected cove group, not as a single designated nudist beach. El Papagayo, Mujeres and Puerto Muelas are the better-known Ajaches sands. Montaña Bermeja is a longer isolated strand toward El Golfo. Paso and Playa del Cochino carry national-park notes in the inventory and are difficult, often by boat. Playa Blanca's main resort beaches remain the family front. Pay any posted track fee, stay on signed paths, and expect fewer services once you leave the town sand.
