El Masnou Area
El Masnou is the first substantial Maresme town north of Montgat and the Barcelona city edge, on the Rodalies R1 and the N-II. Official Costa Barcelona tourism names Ocata, in El Masnou, among the long, open sands of the hundred-kilometre shore. The municipality has a marina, a seafront promenade and a compact old town that grew from a fishing and wine-shipping port, with the Alella vineyards just inland. From Barcelona it is a short suburban ride, and many visitors treat El Masnou as a local beach day rather than a holiday base. The harbour and the Passeig Prat de la Riba are the civic front. Ocata is the wide sand to the north-east, toward Premià, more open than the harbour beach and popular with walkers, swimmers and a breeze off the sea.
Services concentrate on the urban stretches in summer, with shops, cafes and restaurants a short stroll from the station.
