Premià de Mar is a Maresme town on the Rodalies R1 between El Masnou and Vilassar de Mar. Official Maresme tourism lists it among the thirty municipalities of the comarca: a coastal-plain settlement with a long urban beach, a station on the shore railway and an older street grid a few blocks inland. It is a commuter and family-beach town more than an international resort. The N-II and the C-32 run behind the station, and from Barcelona the train is the simple approach. The seafront is a typical Maresme promenade of coarse golden sand, showers in season, and a view along the straight coast toward the hills of the Serralada Litoral. Inland Premià de Dalt, a separate municipality, holds more of the historic hill village; Premià de Mar is the maritime half.

Visitors will find shops, cafes and restaurants along the promenade, perfect for an evening stroll after a day on the sand. There is 1 nudist beach in Premià de Mar on this site, Platja de Ponent, the western sand toward El Masnou. It is a public town beach rather than a gated club, and the quieter western end is where people go for a more relaxed all over tan.
