Situated on the sunny Costa del Azuhar, Oropesa del Mar is one of Castellon’s most developed beach resorts where old and new blend together to offer visitors the best of both worlds. The southern part of the town is home to the fascinating Old Quarter with its well preserved buildings and narrow streets overlooked by the Arab Castle and King’s Tower that dominates the top of the hill. The town has developed around its bay area and is popular with holidaymakers as it has a great choice of apartments and package deals, including a modern infrastructure offering all types of services and amenities. There are a selection of beaches, rocky coves and a promenade that winds its way along the coastline. There is also a pretty marina where the Nautical Club of Oropesa del Mar is located as well as a selection of bars.

The town offers visitors a good selection of shops, cafe’s, bars and restaurants, and there are a number of attractions and places of interest to visit. For a taste of the town’s history, the Old Quarter is where visitors can see the 18th Century Church of the Patient Virgin with its intricate Alcora tiles or visit the quirky Playing Card Museum with over 5,000 different decks of cards from throughout history. There are also fun attractions to enjoy such as the Gold Adventure Theme Park or Fantasy World, both offering loads of activities, rides, slides and play areas as well as a 4D cinema.

For nature lovers, just a short drive from Oropesa del Mar is the internationally recognised El Prat de Cabanes Natural Park. A beautiful wetland area of 800 hectares fed by natural springs which keep it flooded throughout the year. The park is home to a variety of flora & fauna including some endangered species of fish and the largest colony of Collared Pratincole in the Province of Valencia. Naturist’s visiting the area will be pleased to know there is an official nudist beach in Oropesa del Mar, located to the south of the town near Benicassim.
