Nudist Beaches in Castellón

Castellón Province

The Province of Castellón stretches for over 100 kilometres along the Costa del Azahar, north as far as Vinaros, south to La Vall d’Uixo and inland to Vilafranca. It is one of the most mountainous provinces in Spain and a firm favourite with hikers and rock climbers. Throughout the mountain region visitors will enjoy stunning scenery, quaint villages, valleys and lakes. The capital of the province, Castellón de la Plana makes for a good base for visiting the regions many attractions and natural parks. The city itself is a mix of historical buildings and a modern metropolis with a good selection of parks and plazas, monuments, churches and museums.

Most visitors to the region head for one of the regions beach resorts such as Vinaros and Peniscola. Aside from its tourist industry, Vinaros is famous for its mouthwatering shellfish and holds a King Prawn Festival in August each year. Not far off the coast are a collection of small volcanic islands, an excellent spot for scuba diving. Peniscola is dominated by a castle and lighthouse that sits on a rocky headland, joined to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. There are a selection of beaches, shops, bars and restaurants, with the quaint Old Town’s streets and lanes lined with arts & craft shops and local artist studios. In the port area visitors can watch the fishing boats return with their catch to be auctioned or sold straight from the boats, an excellent way to enjoy super fresh seafood without paying restaurant prices.

Castellón Province is home to some beautiful natural parks including the Natural Park of Serra D’Irta which surrounds the town of Peniscola in a stunning array of secluded beaches, coves, wilderness and rocky climbs, interspersed with hiking trails. Near the agricultural village of Cabanes is the El Prat de Cabanes Natural Park, a picturesque wetland area of 800 hectares which has natural springs that keep it flooded throughout the year and is home to a fabulous array of flora & fauna. The area is popular with campers who head for the Torre la Sal 2 caravan and camping site. More like a large complex, it sits right on the beach and has a great range of facilities including shops, bars, restaurants, sporting facilities, 6 swimming pools, jacuzzi’s, a gymnasium and much more. Aside from the province’s main tourist beaches, there are a selection of nudist beaches in Castellón, some official and others where nude swimming and sunbathing are practised but not official.
