Granadilla de Abona is the south-eastern municipality of Tenerife that holds Tenerife South Airport, the windsurfing town of El Médano, and the reddish volcanic cone of Montaña Roja. Official PROMOTUR copy places La Tejita beside that reserve: a quiet kilometre of sand linked by road to El Médano and Los Abrigos, popular with water sports and with people looking for a beach away from the hotel towers. Children and adults alike will enjoy El Médano's town front, the harbour and a walk around the cone. Inland Granadilla village sits higher, a quieter agricultural centre.
There are 3 nudist beaches in Granadilla de Abona. Official Canary Islands tourism describes the privacy of La Tejita's eastern side, close to Montaña Roja, as ideal for nudist bathing, and marks a nudist zone on that page. La Tejita is the long isolated sand, about 1,000 metres in the Guía, inside a cluster of protected designations. La Pelada is a shorter isolated sand by a natural monument. La Rajita is a small isolated sand noted as difficult or by boat. El Médano's main town beach stays the family and board-sport front.
