Lloret de Mar, in the Selva comarca, is the largest tourist resort on the Costa Brava by accommodation. Official Costa Brava guides still describe the older fishing village on a long beach from Sa Caravera to Sa Caleta, the Indiano houses on the promenade, the Museum of the Sea in Can Garriga, the July boat procession for Santa Cristina, and the Santa Clotilde gardens of 1919, laid out by Rubió i Tudurí on the cliffs. Cala Canyelles and Fenals sit either side of the main sand. Girona-Costa Brava Airport is the usual air gate; coaches and the GI-682 coastal road link Lloret to Blanes, Tossa and Girona. There is no railway station in the town, Blanes being the nearest. The resort is busy, international and family-oriented on the main beaches. Santa Clotilde and the gardens are the quieter cultural visit.

Each summer thousands of holidaymakers flock to the main sand in search of fun in the sea and evenings spent wining and dining. There is 1 nudist beach in Lloret de Mar, Sa Boadella, the pine-and-cliff cove south of Fenals, almost the only unspoilt corner left in the municipality and a favourite with those who prefer a little more privacy than the open town beach. Walk or take the local summer connections rather than trying to park on the cove track at midday in August. The main waterfront stays the textile, family and nightlife front of the resort.
