Santa Cristina d'Aro is an inland Vall d'Aro municipality between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Castell-Platja d'Aro, under the Gavarres and Ardenya. Official Costa Brava guides mention a Romanesque church, the Magic Museum, and the greenway of the old Carrilet narrow-gauge railway, now part of the Costa Brava cycling network. The coast belonging to the municipality is a short, steep drop to two named calas, not a resort promenade. Most visitors stay in Platja d'Aro or Sant Feliu and come here for walks, the village and the coves. Romanyà de la Selva, in the same upland, has the dolmen of La Cova d'en Daina and the landscape of Mercè Rodoreda's last years. The C-65 and C-31 are the road approaches.
The village itself is inland and quiet. There are 2 nudist beaches in Santa Cristina d'Aro, Senyor Ramón and Vallpresona, walk-in pine-and-rock coves reached from the camí de ronda rather than from a town beach bar. Wear shoes, carry water, and do not expect full summer services. They are a favourite with those who prefer a little more privacy than the two-kilometre sand at Platja d'Aro. Pair the swim with the greenway or the inland village if you want more than a single cove day.
